charisma and image are just about everything in politics,chiru sought to enhance bith these aspects but ended up losing both...as the megastar of telugu cinema,chiranjeevi had everything an actor could ask for-- a clean image,a massive fan following and a hugely successful career...like most actor turned politicians who choose politics to remain in limelight when the arclights begin to fade,the manner in which chiranjeevi entered into the political arena was far from inspiring.
comparisons were made between NTR & MGR's entry into politics and chiru's....and his entry was hyped beyond reality.the reality however was that chiru didnt enjoy that level of popularity compared too what NTR and MGR enjoyed in their heydays....the timing of entry was horribly wrong...the best time for entry would have been after the release of INDRA(2002) or TAGORE(2003)..those were movies with a mass appeal and dealing with issues such as factionism and corruption....chiru's dilly dallying at that juncture proved to be very costly...it exposed his indecisiveness and lack of forcefullness....instead he chose to step into politics when his movies were doing badly....that was a tactical blunder,considering the fact that unlike yesteryear heroes(NTR,ANR,Krishna,Krishnamraju etc), chiru and his contemporaries relied on only commercial successes for their fan following....
chiru's election debacle is a reflection of an ill planned strategy ,a lack of effective political organisation ,resorting to sale of tickets etc ....his image has taken a terrible beating,his fans --me included are angry ....things will never be the same again.
